Market Application Tips

The Valley Made Community is here with hot tips to help you apply to your dream events! Read on for advice from seasoned makers on what makes a stunning market application.

Nail your branding.

Your branding is your product’s first impression for both applications and sales. Make sure that it conveys your vibe, appeals to your target audience, and is well executed.

“Clean product photos! If you don't have a set-up, PhotoRoom is a free app that works magic and can add or subtract backdrops!”

— Leeann of Arrows Aim Greenhouse & Supply Co.

“Be honest! Don't worry about what you think they want to hear, be true to you and your business!”

— Kortney of knottykort

Stand out.

Highlight what makes you unique. Make sure your application shows off the quality of your materials, the breadth of your knowledge, the vibrancy of your creations. Shout out your why in a way that leaves everyone wanting more.

“Know what your price range is vs. what range typically sells well at those markets/locations.”

— Irene of Chroma Rex

“Don’t bs.”

— Dan of fillerfogg design

Spruce up your online presence.

Keeping your online shop and social media accounts in top condition is best practice all year long, but it’s especially important during application season. High quality photos will help you shine!

“Many applications will ask for a booth setup- if it's your first one, just set up your tent in your yard!”

— Sage of Touch of Grayce

“Have a clear elevator pitch! Two sentences about your brand.”

— Paige of Ponderosa Creative

Eliminate errors.

These mistakes happen all the time! Applications are submitted with incorrect links, partial email addresses, or missed sections. Take the time to triple check your writing, especially any links or emails. Make sure to follow all directions and pay any necessary fees.

Apply early.

If not early, be sure to get your application in before the deadline. Many shows (ours included) do not allow for late applications. Set calendar alerts, apply right when you receive the opening announcement, don’t procrastinate. You’ll be thankful that you’re not scrambling at the last miniute.

“Read all the info that's available to you and don't spam organizers with questions. Being nice goes a long way!”

— Andrea of MW Soapworks

Final advice: trust yourself and don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through.
